Init Manga v1.4.2 – Advanced Manga Filter with Multi-Criteria Search

With the release of Init Manga v1.4.2, we’re excited to introduce the long-awaited Advanced Manga Filter — a powerful, lightning-fast filtering system that gives readers complete control over how they browse your manga library. Designed with both UX and performance in mind, this feature unlocks deep-level discovery across your entire collection.

Init Manga v1.4.2 – Advanced Manga Filter with Multi-Criteria Search

Flexible multi-criteria filtering

Readers can filter manga by multiple genres (multi-select), type (comic/novel), status (ongoing/completed/dropped), age rating, author, scanlation team, and rating range. Each filter is clearly organized and designed to work in combination, giving users highly precise control over search results.

Modern, responsive UI built with UIKit

The filter form uses a clean, mobile-first grid layout powered by UIKit. Genre checkboxes adapt from 2 columns on mobile to 4 on desktop, while dropdowns are styled consistently with the theme and support long lists. Results are displayed using the same layout as the main manga list for seamless integration.

URL state management for shareable filters

Each filtered state is saved directly in the URL using clean GET parameters. Users can easily bookmark or share a filtered view — for example, “Top Rated 18+ Novels by Team A” — with no need to reconfigure settings. Genre values are compressed (`genre=a,b`) for readability and SEO-friendly links.

Powerful sort options built-in

Readers can sort results by latest updates, newest manga, total views (daily/weekly/monthly), average rating, power stones, or followers. All sorting options are mapped to optimized database queries with minimal overhead and consistent visual feedback.

Works with your existing taxonomy and metadata

The system connects seamlessly with built-in taxonomies like genre, author_tax, and team, as well as core meta fields such as status and rating. There’s no need to create new data structures — it works out of the box with your current manga setup.

Performance-optimized query engine

The init_manga_filter_query() function is fully customized for performance. It combines meta queries and taxonomy conditions intelligently using WordPress’s native WP_Query. Pagination is integrated, and filters are cached smartly to avoid redundant queries.

Customizable, extensible, developer-friendly

You can easily insert this filter page into any section of your site using template-manga-filter.php. UI helper classes make it easy to restyle, and the logic is modular enough to extend with new conditions or integrations such as badges, tags, or seasonal campaigns.

Built for serious manga libraries

If your site features a large, diverse manga catalog, this filter system is a must-have. It empowers readers to explore your content in new ways, drives deeper engagement, and turns casual visitors into loyal users by helping them find exactly what they’re looking for.
